Original Mazda parts for a car and a transmission that were only made here, and a clutch that is JUST for this car (regular 12a clutch don’t fit on 12a turbo engines). I don’t need to change my clutch right now, but when you see rare stuff like this for your car, you buy it, no questions asked. Pretty damn cheap for original mazda parts too 220/230$ shipped to my place.
Thx Yahoo Auction!

If you can afford the gasoline bills, go for it. Drastically check the oil and change it more than regulary (I change mine every 2000km). But those gasoline bills. That’s what gets you :)
I average 20L/100km daily driving mine. That’s about 12mpg.

Cheap as fuck here and damn do they rev! I want a great FWD car in my stable lol... Peugeot 205 GTI and Integra Type-R come to mind

In the states though. Type Rs are expensive here as well as a 205 GTi.

Is the engine that un efficient, or is it just too fun to drive?

A bit of both... It’s the first turbo rotary ever sold so efficiency is anywhere but with it... And I don’t drive in a way that is economical, but I’m not a hooligan on the streets either. If I’m very careful and drive economically, I’ve managed to get down to 13 /14l per 100km. On the freeway of I respect the speed limits and don’t accelerates or anything, I’ve managed to reach 10l per 100km. But these were fuel savings tanks to really see how low I could get. So yeah, efficiency is terrible.
If I have fun on the mountains I’ll be around 35l/100km. On a racetrack it actually gets worse than a v12 Lamborghini as I get 50 to 55l/100km.
Engine had been slightly tuned by RE-Amemiya, which certainly does not help. It’s 165hp stock and probably around 185/190hp now. It can rev up to 9000 instead of 6500 originally... I rarely go over 8000 though. It’s a 31 year old engine after all.

At the track though... it’s not every day either :)
A special high pressure fuel pump had to be installed to keep up with this kind of gas consumption lol

Only thing I have is this, which I did to test out Harry’s Laptimer. Haven’t filmed at the track yet... I’ll go back sometime soon so I’ll make sure to take the gopro with me that time.

Wow beautiful SA. Sounds amazing.
I’m in the market for a 79 to go with my FC vert.

I can’t recommend enough you get a SA22C enough (by the way all japanese cars are SA22C, FB only happened because of american laws and VIN numbers taking place in 1981. My car is a 1985 SA22C RX7, because JDM :) )
But really, try to get as much power from it as possible with a NA engine. And get a LSD, they didn’t have one originally, unless you bought one of the 2000 or less turbo ones like me. I think 200/210hp for 950kg is the sweet spot for these cars (as long as you have a LSD, never forget the LSD lol). Mine is 185/190hp and I wish it had JUST a little bit more power. Those turbo engines are not intercooled though and if mine gets one, it will reach those number and it will be sooooooo damn perfect :)

Good info there^^
Yeah when I get one im gonna try to source the gsl-se lsd. And probably do an na s5 Bridgeport with my extra s5 engine. So I don’t want to find one too* original. Not many SA 12a cars left here.

I’m a NA kind of guy who owns a Turbo car... I like it but.... it’s not NA :)
My dream is a 20B SA22C, NA and making around 230hp/240hp... JUST a bit over that sweet spot for it haha

I love na in a light chassis like that. Unfortunately for my 3000lbs FC na just doesn’t cut it. Shame they didn’t all come turbo here like they did elsewhere.

Yeah FC and FD were very different cars... Great in their own ways, but nothing can compare with something truly light like the SA22C... Granted that mine has no more bumpers (no metal part in the bumper, only a plastic fairing), has no door handle because doors were modified for lightness, hood is not original either and made of fiberglass by RE-Amemiya...etc etc. Normally they were 1030kg, but still, MUCH lighter than a FC or a FD :)
